About Us Our
Mission:
To the glory of God we are sharing our Redeemer by . . .
BEARING one another's burdens as family
CARING for one another in Christian love and compassion
ENCOURAGING growth and outreach through worship and Bible study
(Colossians 3:12-17)
Statement of Beliefs:
1) Holy Scripture is God's inspired, inerrant word.
2) In His Word, God has made himself known to us as the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
3) Jesus Christ is the Redeemer of all people. He is both true God and true man.
4) Saving faith is God's gift, conveyed through Word and sacraments.
5) The Sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord's Supper are means by which God brings His grace into our lives.
6) God the Holy Spirit works in us through Word and Sacrament to keep us alive in Christ and growing in Christ.
7) At the End of Time, Jesus will return as Lord and Judge of all. All the dead shall rise. All who have trusted in
Jesus will spend eternity with Him in heavenly bliss and joy.
8) Essential to the proper understanding and use of the Holy Scripture is the clear distinction between Law and Gospel.

Who We Are
Our beginnings go back to April 1932, with the establishment by Saint James Lutheran Church
of a "branch Sunday School" in the old Durst Dairy building at 24th and Broadway.
In January 1940 Our Redeemer congregation was organized with 47 confirmed members. In December 1940 the Rev. E. J. Otto
was ordained and installed as the Pastor of the new congregation. He served as Our Redeemer's only pastor until his
retirement in 1982. He entered eternal rest in July 1987. The Rev. Larry D. Troxel was installed as Pastor in November
1982.
Serving members who live in all areas of Quincy and beyond, Our Redeemer has been blessed by God with growth so that our
baptized membership now is about 670.
In June 2002 the congregation dedicated a new entry which includes an ADA-conforming ramp, an elevator to the lower
level Fellowship Hall. Also on the lower level are handicapped accessible restrooms. |
